Panama wilt caused by Fusarium is one of the most serious diseases in banana cultivation.
In our dual culture assays with Trichoderma against Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. cubense, we noticed something interesting.
Different Trichoderma species dominate through different mechanisms:
• Mycoparasitism
• Competition
• Antifungal metabolites
• Toxin production
• Rapid colonization
Each strain is strong in its own way.
This is why we started exploring a multi-species Trichoderma consortium, produced through our SSF facility at Plant X Crop.
Sometimes in biological control, diversity is the real strength.
